About Bangeston Barn

A wonderful barn conversion, Bangeston Barn is set only 750 metres from East Angle Bay and just over 2 miles from West Angle Bay in the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park. Nestling beside Bangeston Farmhouse, 43061, the barn has been designed with quality and eco efficiency in mind. The barn is also a wonderful holiday home for families and couples seeking a comfortable, thoughtfully designed and equipped coastal cottage.

Solar panels heat the water, wood pellets fuel the boiler and a state of the art heat exchanger circulates fresh, warm air throughout the barn, together with triple glazing, thick insulation and wood burner creates a 'green' yet cosy house. The original walls have been lime washed and oak beams have been used to give the barn a real feeling of history. A fixed wooden step ladder leads to a galleried crog loft a snug sleeping area in the eaves, while 4 slate steps from the open plan lounge diner leads to the pretty master bedroom. The small lawned area to the rear gives a sheltered spot to enjoy an alfresco meal.

The ancient woodland of the Angle estate neighbours the barn and wildlife and bird life abounds in the area. East Angle Bay is 750m away, where you can join the Pembrokeshire Coastal Path. It is mostly a pebble beach which disappears at high tide. There is the odd patch of sand, but it is mostly a lovely place to look at shells and sea life. Enjoy the peace and quiet, watching the boats passing by, while Angle is a quaint and usually tranquil village at the most south westerly tip of Wales, is a further short walk from here. The sandy West Angle Bay is just over 2 miles away. Enjoy a coffee or lunch at Wavecrest Cafe over looking the sea.

In 2009, Freshwater West (only 1 mile away), one of the wildest beaches in Pembrokeshire, famed for its surf and long, golden beach and high, sheltered sand dunes became a film set for not just one blockbuster but two!! Namely Robin Hood and the new Harry Potter movie - Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.

Some restricted headroom.

All are flat and gravelled. There are 2 entrances. The main entrance door is via a gated patio/path up a single step and through 940mm wide door way reached by one 7 inch step. The alternative side entrance is reached by a single 7 inch step through the kitchen via a 770mm wide door. A wooden ramp can be provided on request. The front garden is bordered by an earth bank and gate with 2 small grassed areas either side of the path leading to the front door. The rear garden is on 2 levels. There is a slate path from the kitchen door around the building and 3 steps up to a small grass terrace. The rear garden is partly enclosed by hedgerow, a grass bank rising up to the farmhouse however, there are unfenced drops. The ground floor is on one level. The double bedroom can be accessed via 4 wooden steps that are 8.5 inches. There is a 2.5 foot unfenced drop to foot well of stairs. A further sleeping area is via a ladder with 11 steps to a restricted-height mezzanine area containing a floor-level double mattress. The small bathroom is accessed via a 700mm door and has a toilet, counter top washbasin and small bath with shower accessed via bath. Either the doors or door surrounds are in a contrasting colour to the walls. The ground floor bunk room is accessed via a 700mm door and contains a bunk with a double on the bottom and a single on the top. The beds can only be accessed from one side. Flooring throughout the barn (apart from the wooden mezzanine floor), consists of slate with a riven/uneven surface. The kitchen has worktops and a cooker with gas hob and electric double oven of a contrasting colour. All light switches are at 1200mm as well as 4 thermostats to control the under floor heating. It is well lit throughout (energy saving bulbs may take a short time to warm up) and an external light over the kitchen entrance. There is good colour contrast to floor and walls. The Wood burner has a single walled flue becoming an insulated twin-walled flue as it leads up through mezzanine bedroom. This may become hot – particularly the single wall flue and the fire. Telephone (no overseas). TV with teletext operated by remote control. WIFI with speeds up to 4 megabytes. Guide dogs welcome.
